An advanced, restrained technological civilization — they would rather self-destruct than let their knowledge fall into enemy hands.
Who they are
The Zyvarn are more advanced than they let on, and they keep it that way deliberately. Their ships are understated, their presence quiet, their diplomacy courteous — the whole civilisation behaves like someone who would rather not be noticed for their strength.
History gave them the reason: they have already seen once what happens when their knowledge falls into the wrong hands. Since then the rule admits no exception — a Zyvarn ship will destroy itself rather than be left as an intact, researchable wreck. Their enemies have not recovered a usable piece in decades.
It shows in battle too: part of the damage done to a Zyvarn hull is thrown straight back at whoever fired. Not a defence — a price. Breaking a Zyvarn fleet is something you feel afterwards.
Narion is what they understand best: they draw more from the rarest resource than anyone. It is the material that runs out first at the far end of the tech tree — the Zyvarn are strong exactly where everyone else stalls.
